BlackBerry Torch 9850 Verizon Wireless (Review)

blackberry torch 9850 blackberry

The  BlackBerry Torch 9850 from Verizon Wireless offers an awesome device design and a clean sharp screen gives a very pleasant end user experience.  Features like 720p HD video capture, world phone capabilities, and the new OS 7 make this a very nice device.

As with the Verizon BlackBerry Bold 9930, the Torch 9850 offers a 1.2GHz, single-core processor and  768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage (down from 8GB on the Bold 9930).

The BlackBerry 7 OS is very responsive and I never did experience any lag which made using the device on a daily basis quite pleasant.

The virtual keypad in both landscape or portrait was accurate and easy to use.

One of the features I really like with this device is the 720 HD Video Capture. I have used it for making video demo’s at PlayBookDaily.com and they turn out great.

I was amazed how many times I was out and about using this device and friends of mine thought I was using a Android device. Not all but most of them that used to be BlackBerry device owners and now Android owners said they wish this device was available before they switched.

Taking nothing away from the 9850 at all, my main device will be the Bold 9900/9930 because I am partial to the keyboard but for those that love the full screen and virtual keyboard, you cant go wrong with the BlackBerry Torch 9850 from Verizon Wireless.

BlackBerry 7 Shows a New Look with Updated Virtual Keyboard

blackberry 7 keyboard compared

Picture via UrbanGlowCam

This is a pretty cool look of the new virtual keyboard layout for the upcoming BlackBerry 7 OS on the BlackBerry 9810 compared to the BlackBerry 6 OS on the BlackBerry 9800.

The new look is very similar to the PlayBook virtual keyboard and although it will be a change for folks I think people will become familiar with the new layout quite quickly. What are your thoughts.
