UberSocial Updated to V 1.175

UberSocial formerly known as UberTwitter launched last night and they have released a new update to fix a sound issue. Version 1.175 is available for download.

The upgrade went smooth and does require a reboot after installation.

UberTwitter is now called UberSocial and Available for Download. SWEET!!

As we said a few days ago the  UberTwitter BlackBerry App was suspended until some violations were cleared up. It seems PostUp / UberMedia has been working hard to get this resolved and the wait is finally over.

Please welcome UberSocial and give it a try, this new install should overwrite the older UberTwitter install.

UberTwitter Version 1.114 released!

Below is a list of changes and fixes introduced in version 1.114.

  • Detection and reconnection to Facebook prior to sending a tweet
  • Facebook send error detection Much better detection of errors and reporting to the user if the post to facebook fails
  • Manual refresh Fixed a bug where selecting ‘refresh’ from the menu didn’t always kick off a refresh
  • Timeline not refreshing Fixed a bug where the timeline would not refresh and large amounts of CPU would be used causing battery drain

  • Dismissible Ads – For those of you on touch screen devices with the Ad supported version, you can dismiss the ad at the bottom of the screen to give you more screen space.

UberTwitter Releases version 1.01 to Resolve Freezing Issues.

UberTwitter needed to release version 1.01 to fix some bugs. Remember to restart after installation.

Details about Version 1.0: Version 1.0 is now available for download! Yes, you read that right, we’re out of beta. After almost 18 months of reading and responding to over ten thousand emails, and using what we learned to direct and refine the feature set, the most popular Twitter client is now at version 1.0. The headline feature in this release is Facebook integration, of course we could have brought you the same integration that everyone else has, simple echoing your tweet text to Facebook, but no, we wanted your posts from ÜberTwitter to be first class citizens in your Facebook stream, complete with rich media previews for pictures and location. UberTwitter Updated to version 0.993.

UPDATE 0.993

Beta-9 release 2 is now available for download! The version number is 0.993. The major change in this release is to switch from using Google Maps to your choice of either BlackBerry Maps or MapQuest. We hope to bring Google Maps back in a subsequent release and also support Bing Maps so our users will have the widest choice available. We also added a free twitter alert sound below for those that want it.

Release 2 features and change log

  • Map Provider Allow users to select either MapQuest (default) or BlackBerry maps to display users locations.
  • User action to retrieve a map You now have to click the ‘Retrieve Map’ button after opening a tweet in order for the map to be retrieved. This will result in substantially lower bandwidth requirements and improved battery life.
  • UberChannel date display bug fix Fixed a bug where tweets in UberChannel streams had the date incorrectly displayed.
  • Resetting tweets to retrieve bug Fixed bug where on an upgrade the number of tweets to retrieve would reset to 60.
  • Highlight color in Midnight Theme bubble layout The highlight color in the Midnight theme when using the bubble layout is now much easier to discern.
  • Text Ad color We changed the color of the text ads to conform to the them colors. The ads are still clearly marked as an advertisement.
  • GPS Radio Activation The GPS radio will now only be activated when you open the compose tweet screen IF you have selected to use the GPS radio to determine location. This should greatly reduce battery drain, but may result in the location mechanism falling back to the cell tower method on some occassions.

UberTwitter Beta 9 version 0.99 Released.

UberTwitter has released a new version and it includes several new features. One of the features are new themes. Below is a screen shot of the new Midnight Theme.

Below is a list of the features and capabilities that are new to this release.

  • Bug Fix – Fixed a bug where the menu key would become unresponsive and occasionally the device would lock up. This same bug likely was causing excessive battery usage over time.
  • New Themes – You asked and we delivered two new themes! The Midnight theme which we think many of you will find extremely appealing, and the Über Classic theme which brings back many of the color choices of version 0.971 including the same solid colors for @replies and DMs
  • Filtered ÜberChannels – You loved ÜberChannels, but now we think you’ll love it even more! When you pull up the timeline for an ÜberChannel the tweets are now filtered so that you will only see Continue on by Clicking HERE!

UberTwitter Updated to version 0.970.

This most recent update (.970) is mostly a bug-fix/stabilization release. This is in preparation for a substantial feature upgrade for Beta-8 which they plan to release soon. After the upgrade you will need to do a reboot and go through the setup pages again but overall the install is seamless. Download HERE!

# Java exceptions on device boot – Fixed issue where java exceptions would be reported on device reboot due to lack of permissions
# Opt-out of sponsored tweets – Users can now opt out of receiving sponsored tweets
# Goto User bug fix – Fixed bug where entering a user not in your time line and then pressing trackball wouldn’t use the text you entered but instead find the closest match from your friends list
# Everyone Near You – Fixed bug where it wouldn’t uses your current Capture11_51_52location, and sometimes would revert to somewhere off the coast of Africa. Also increased the distance to a 10 mile radius, in the future we will let you select this.
# Mini-Icon Notification – Fixed bug where if the app didn’t have certain permissions not related to the mini-icon, it still wouldn’t show the mini-icon
# Fine-Tuned control of visual notifications – There are now three settings each for the mini-icon and application icon so you can fine-tune the control over how you want each to notify you. Also, the number next to the mini-icon will only reflect the number of new tweets of the type it is tracking. For example, if you only set the mini-icon to track new DMs, then the number next to the mini-icon will only reflect the number of new DMs.
# New short-cut for page-up – Added a new short-cut to page-up in the time line, pressing ’0′ (zero) will now page up in the time line
# Instability when using cell location – Fixed bug that would cause instability in the app when using cell tower location
# 3G Cell Tower Inaccuracy – Fixed a bug in the cell tower location mechanism when 3G towers were being used
# Symbol Screen – Again reworked the symbol screen
# Secure Connection – Changed the default Twitter endpoint so your traffic will travel over a secure HTTPS connection
# Deleting DMs – We now allow you to delete direct messages.
# Constant permissions requests – Fixed bug where every time the app was started it would ask for permissions.

* Added ‘Send to UberTwitter’ item to BB OS versions below 4.6 when viewing picts/videos, allowing you to send pictures already on your device
* Support for yfrog.com images in preview/view (note there is a bug we are working on where BIS-B users can’t see yfrog images, works for Direct TCP)
* Support for mobypicture.com images in preview/view
* Merging @replies (replies and mentions) into your timeline is now optional (default off), changeable through options wizard. Note that turning this on can make you more easily hit the rate limit. In a future release we’ll allow a completely separate update schedule for @replies
* Moved @replies and Direct Messages To You menu items up towards the top for convenience
* Fixed bug when trying to follow people from any of the search timelines
* Fixed bug where device updates were set to on when you followed someone, regardless if you didn’t select that option
* Added shortcut ‘d’ to direct message someone
* Added Direct Message to menu in Friends/Followers
* Small avatars should work fine now, when you change it automatically changes your timeline, flushes cache, etc.
* Added option to NOT use BB sound/vib notifications – some models are almost impossible to figure out how to change. Note that the default setting is OFF, so if you want notifications you need to go into the options wizard and check this option.
* Avatars weren’t being scaled correctly, causing issues on some devices
* ReTweets were setting the ‘reply-to-id’, which would cause it to be treated like a reply, which did not allow some users to view the tweet
* Changed fonts on status update screen to be consistent
* When pict/vid is added to tweet, subtract correct number of characters to account for URL, making the character count more accurate
* Fixed bug where uncaught exception could occur if you clicked an ‘@user’ in another bb app and ÜberTwitter wasn’t already running
* Fixed bug where some failures to retrieve avatars could result in ‘spinning arrows’ and a huge battery drain.
* Turned on an auto-refresh whenever your timeline screen is exposed, this was requested by many users!
