I have admittedly been mostly uninterested in most 3rd party applications most of the years that I have been a BlackBerry user, but recently I have found a hunger for finding new applications that bring either function or fun to my BlackBerry experience. I would say that this change is mostly due to my purchase of the BlackBerry Torch 9800. I admit that the impotent processor of the Torch definitely shows its weakness when adding some applications but having a large screen and the fact that the 9800 finally brings a normal touch screen experience to BlackBerry, definitely makes using applications more enjoyable. So in my newly discovered hunger for apps, I have been hunting for interesting BlackBerry Applications both new and old to test and review for the other app hungry users out there.
Today’s BlackBerry Application is App Lock by Ajani InfoTech Private Limited is the kind of application that I have been wondering about for quite some time, its a simple yet genius application. I believe there are lots of people who have "select" data or files on their BlackBerry that they would like to protect but have no desire to password protect their entire OS, because requiring a password every time you use your phone can be a royal pain in the ass. However, you may have nude pics that you took to send to your boyfriend or want to keep your mom out of your addressbook or don’t want your friends to get into your text messages when you fall asleep. There are literally thousands of reasons that you could want to protect select information on your phone. This is exactly what App Lock does, it allows you to a password to lock one or many files or applications on your BlackBerry(3rd party apps too!). The other feature that I really appreciate is the fact that you can choose to have it lock all the time, every time you lock your phone, when the backlight turns off, or manually lock it when you decide.

Yesterday I told you about BatteryBooster(TM) by S4BB Limited, which has given my impotent BlackBerry Torch 9800 Battery the ability to make it through the day. Since that application worked so well I decided to give Memory Booster a whirl since its made by the same company. I can’t say it had quite the same impact on my Torch but not many applications will have as an important effect as extra battery life. It is great to see they continue to improve this application, I never really thought I would use the app much if at all, but it is amazing home many times this app has come in very handy. The Wordpress BlackBerry app allows you to write posts, upload photos and videos, edit pages, and manage comments. Both WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress (2.7 or higher) sites are supported. Download the app and start blogging on the go in no time.
It was a bug squashing release, including:
* Fixed empty title issue for those blogs with “Site Title” field set to empty value.
* Fixed an issue on the comments screen that doesn’t permit editing of comments with weird characters within URL or e-mail field.
* Introduced a better integration with the VideoPress service and the WordPress.com Space-Upgrade option.
* Added support for the blog shortcut icon.
* Minor bug fixing.

A note for beta testers: the beta build will eventually expire. We have no immediate plans to disable the beta build, as we want everyone to avoid disruption of service and to give everyone an opportunity to upgrade. Well it appears Linkedin for BlackBerry has been updated to a new version. According to the Linkedin blog they have made several upgrades that should fix some issues and improve performance. It is not available via BlackBerry app world yet but it is available via OTA and the link is provided below.
